Many hipsters like to go to the Nan Fung Textile Factory on weekends to take photos, visit the market, and check in at trendy cafes. Now you can also go to the Danqiu Distillery to see photo exhibitions and try specialty cocktails!
The Danqiu Distillery is the tasting room of the Hong Kong craft liquor brand, White Orchid. The brand launched the world’s first sugar-free coffee liqueur, “Danmo,” a year ago, and to celebrate its one-year anniversary, they have released a special collaboration edition. The “Mr. Ho’s Light and Shadow Limited Edition – Whisky Barrel-aged Danmo Sugar-free Coffee Liqueur” features the artwork “Hong Kong Venice” by the late photographer Mr. Ho as the label for this special edition, and the taste of the special edition Danmo coffee liqueur is also unique.
The brand ages the original coffee beer in American bourbon barrels for 9 months, allowing the flavors of beer and coffee to blend and settle. This process brings out the flavors of dark chocolate, honey, and woody notes. This special edition is limited to 2500 bottles ($398) and each bottle is numbered, making it a valuable collectible.
To complement the launch of this special edition, the brand has set up a He Fan exhibition at the Danqiu Distillery. With the theme “Between Dream and Awakening,” 8 works by Mr. He Fan are on display, including film photos created using double exposure techniques, showcasing the dreamlike Hong Kong scenery.
During the month of December, every Friday, Danqiu Distillery will be offering a limited edition Christmas cocktail called Smoky Dreams for $120. The glass is first smoked, creating a dream-like and mesmerizing effect. The cocktail is made with white rum, light ink coffee liqueur, mint, and coconut-flavored liqueur, resulting in a refreshing sweetness reminiscent of peppermint candy canes, and it is filled with the Christmas spirit.
