Michelin recommends “Couple’s Snacks” in Central! Homemade sliced buns, stuffed cheese/matcha pressed cakes, Taiwanese snacks.

The “Liang Kou Xiao Chi” steamed buns, pressed pancakes, and limited-time snacks and desserts are all delicious and Instagram-worthy! After the news of a new store opening in Central, people are very excited. However, it is not easy to get their products. You need to be mentally prepared to “wait in line” because all the food is freshly handmade in the small shop. They only start making it when customers place their orders, and the quantity is limited and takes time to make. Sometimes, they may even run out of stock for the day!

The editor tested the waiting time and arrived 15 minutes before the store opened on Friday. After the store opened, they waited for about 20 minutes before placing an order, and then waited for about 30 minutes for the food to be ready. Although the waiting time was long, it was definitely worth it in terms of food quality! The buns are handmade and steamed daily, soft yet chewy, and filled with Taiwanese-style marinated pork belly and shrimp cakes seasoned with Hong Kong-style curry fish balls.

The most popular besides the gua bao is the pressed pancake, which is made by mixing glutinous rice flour to create a chewy pancake skin. It is then filled with ingredients and slowly pan-fried to create a crispy outer layer. The main flavors include four cheese, Koyamaen matcha cream cheese, and chocolate skin roasted tea. When tearing open the pressed pancake from the middle, the cheese has a stringy effect, while the matcha is extremely smooth and silky.

Recently, the store has launched limited edition new flavors, adding Japanese curry onion sauce to four types of cheese, which will be released irregularly. Other snacks are also attractive, including fried white jade, mochi ice cream, and spicy fried Taiwanese sausage, all of which are delicious and mouth-watering.
