Sai Ying Pun color clash check-in shop! Taiwanese X American fusion fried gua bao / scallion braised pork with fries

Next to the escalator on Sai Ying Pun Main Street, a very eye-catching store Bun Bun has opened! The orange against the fresh blue container wall is playful, making it very eye-catching to pick up drinks or fries for check-in!

The name of the small shop is “Bun Bun,” which literally means “eating buns”! Bun Bun specializes in Taiwanese-style gua bao, offering both steamed and fried buns (à la carte HK$58, set meal HK$68). The fried gua bao is freshly fried to order, golden and crispy. Currently, there are 3 filling options available. Although the choices are limited, each one is carefully crafted, blending Taiwanese cuisine with American ingredients.

The black vinegar sauce in “Slow-cooked pork belly with black vinegar sauce” balances the rich taste of pork belly with its sweet and sour flavor, accompanied by pickled vegetables to cut through the richness; “Crispy fried chicken with green sauce” features homemade basil sauce and pickled cucumbers, served with Taiwanese-style fried chicken, soft-boiled egg, and fried basil leaves, offering a fragrant taste and different textures in every bite. “Spicy meat sauce with squid ink sausage” uses tomato sauce as the base for the spicy meat sauce, with the addition of peanut butter for a rich and sweet flavor.

In addition to the gua bao, the small shop also offers snacks such as fried fries, salt and pepper mushrooms, etc. The “Scallion Braised Pork Fries” (HK$58) are large in portion and meaty in sauce, paired with various fruity sodas, it feels very satisfying!
