This is Giambattista Valli’s 23rd haute couture show, marking his official entry into the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week schedule’s tenth anniversary. Those familiar with haute couture can recognize his iconic design language at a glance, with candy-colored soft tulle that, when layered, creates delicate and fluffy silhouettes reminiscent of cakes, becoming a focal point on the red carpet in recent years.
In this season’s haute couture, Valli’s ambition goes beyond this. He not only hopes that those glamorous dresses will be favored by celebrities, but also wants to create a wardrobe that girls aspire to have. In addition to hanging various cute balloons at the show, bows are added to many looks, allowing everyone to step into a sweet and innocent princess dream.
In addition to using a large amount of colorful chiffon, Valli this season also tries to emphasize the weight of the clothes with various different fabrics. From large areas of feather decoration, to stiff taffeta, to contrasting and mixing multiple fabrics, it is overwhelming.
Valli is one of the few designers in haute couture who does not rely on embroidery to showcase luxury, which is why his designs always make people feel youthful and energetic. Before the grand finale evening gowns, he presented 6 looks of pure white shirts paired with sheer skirts and black slim belts, washing away the extravagance and forming a sharp contrast with the colorful evening gowns.
