Chloé presents a collaboration with the iconic British fashion brand Barbour for its Spring 2023 collection, bringing together elements from both brands for stylish and functional new designs.
Founded in 1894, the British brand Barbour is globally renowned for its windproof, waterproof, and durable waxed cotton jackets. Even the British royal family, from the Queen to Princess Diana, and now Kate Middleton and Prince William, are loyal fans. For Chloé’s creative director Gabriela Hearst, Barbour jackets hold a special significance as they remind her of her father and stepfather, who worked on the family’s ranch in Uruguay, wearing Barbour jackets.
In its first collaboration with a luxury women’s brand, Barbour, Chloé referenced Barbour’s design concepts from 1910 to the present day and had them produced by Barbour. The joint collection includes three designs: the Dany coat, Dustyn jacket, and Hadrien cape, with the first two featuring three-dimensional ruffled edges on the shoulders, recreating Chloé’s unique wing-shaped cut.
Accessories crafted by Chloé in collaboration with Barbour, featuring two different sizes of Edith handbags, Mallo tall boots, Noua military boots, scarves, and fisherman hats. Each design is made with Barbour’s classic navy blue, mud brown, and dark green waxed cotton fabric, with some styles adorned with Barbour’s signature tartan pattern.
Since Gabriela Hearst took over as Creative Director of Chloé, she has been dedicated to reforming the brand’s core values, promoting sustainable and socially responsible fashion. Barbour, over the past century, has re-waxed countless customers’ waxed products, which aligns perfectly with Chloé’s core value of promoting sustainability.
The Chloé x Barbour limited edition collection will be available for purchase starting December 2nd at Matchesfashion, and from December 9th at Chloé boutiques, barbour.com, and selected Barbour retailers worldwide.
