Nightfall always stirs people’s thoughts and has become a theme for many artists. Similarly born in Hong Kong, the renowned composer Fung Lam and top photographer and director Wing Shya collaborated for the first time, using “Nocturne” as the theme to unleash infinite imagination in music and visuals, jointly composing a wordless love letter to Hong Kong; this is also Wing Shya’s first visual creation presented on stage.

Organized by Hong Kong Contemporary Music Group, the brand new multimedia creation “Nocturne” will be performed at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre on September 2nd to 3rd, 2022. The work presents exquisite music and beautiful images in a non-narrative manner, exploring the relationship between oneself and the city, guiding the audience through a journey of intertwined sound and visuals.

This time, Lin Feng transformed his imagination of the night and the feeling of the night into musical notes, and then Xia Yongkang started from the musical notes to shoot a series of art films containing ten chapters, projecting his imagination of the thoughts and emotions under the hazy night onto the stage.

At the same time, Lam Fung will play the piano and lead members of the Hong Kong Contemporary Music Group along with the renowned saxophonist Sun Yinglin (Timothy Sun) to perform the ten new pieces. In addition to sound and visuals, the team has also specially designed stage sets for the performance, hoping to lead the audience into a poetic space full of imagination.

This art film invited 12 young actresses and models, including Natalie, Bonny, Kuku, Helen, and Elizabeth, to perform, touching the audience’s emotions.

“Night Song” is a non-narrative cross-media program with no script and no dialogue, focusing on the expression of emotions and thoughts, allowing music and images to engage in a purely visual dialogue. Two artists who love Hong Kong hope that their work can showcase the tranquil beauty of Hong Kong and bring comfort to the audience, while also allowing them to explore their own connection with the city.
