South Korea’s “National Little Sister” IU made her first appearance at the Cannes Film Festival with multiple fairy-like looks to promote her new movie “Baby Station,” in which she plays a role. She became the center of attention on the red carpet with her confident demeanor. Recently, IU continued her whirlwind promotional tour in Japan, and her work record vlog revealed that she committed a major female celebrity taboo!

The so-called biggest taboo for female celebrities is definitely the issue of water retention. They often have to maintain a delicate and tight facial appearance in front of the camera to keep a small face on screen. To avoid water retention, female celebrities not only drink black coffee regularly, but also try to avoid eating high-salt foods before bed. Despite knowing this well, IU couldn’t resist hunger one night during her trip to Japan, eating a whole cup of noodles and kimchi in the middle of the night, resulting in a very swollen face the next morning when she had to work.

IU revealed her makeup process the next morning in a Vlog, appearing without makeup and complaining about her swollen face. She seemed quite worried about the mismatch between her round, swollen face and her chic style. Fortunately, after a two-hour grooming process, IU’s swelling had reduced significantly. In fact, IU, who has always had baby fat, is easily affected by swelling issues, and in the past, she has mentioned her “unique” method for reducing swelling in interviews.

This method that IU has been insisting on for many years is called the “seven-day water de-swelling” method. As the name suggests, it focuses on draining water in the seven days before important work days. For the first five days, you need to drink about 3,000cc of water daily to increase the body’s water drainage. On the sixth day, you should stop drinking water, so that the body’s function does not quickly adapt and continue to urinate water, which will eliminate the remaining water stored in the body. By the seventh day, there will be no swelling at all. However, IU’s de-swelling method has also been criticized as overly extreme. Drinking water excessively for the first five days may lead to water intoxication, and suddenly stopping drinking water can also disrupt the body’s balance. To solve the problem of swelling, sticking to a low-salt diet is already sufficient.
