花卉静物从传统发展至今，创作风格一直随着不同艺术风潮而有所转变。过往以风景、花草树木为主题的作品多作为装饰之用，而今的创作者却为这些艳丽的花卉赋予一种哲学性的探索，譬如生死、时间、转化等，让花朵的意义远超于一刹那的绽放。
Simon Lee 画廊现正呈献英国艺术家 Toby Ziegler 一系列优雅知性的花卉静物作品，展示艺术家如何持续以创作探索图像生成、生物消解的速率等议题，从而分析时间与自然的关系。
This time, the exhibition “Luxury” showcases 8 new works by artists, originating from the 17th-century still life painting tradition, involving works from Flemish painting master Jan Brueghel the Elder to German artist Abraham Mignon. Ziegler is deeply interested in the theme of “vanitas” in still life painting, emphasizing that in the face of absolute death, all the fleeting pleasures of time are meaningless. Just like the flowers he paints, they symbolize the fragility and transience of life, capturing the most beautiful appearance of blooming with a brush, as if extending the fleeting time. 这次展览“浮华”展出了8幅艺术家的新作品，它们起源于17世纪的静物画传统，涉及到从佛兰德绘画大师Jan Brueghel the Elder，到德国艺术家Abraham Mignon的作品。Ziegler对“虚空静物画”（vanitas）的主题深感兴趣，这流派强调在绝对的死亡面前，时间一切浮华的享乐都是虚无的。正如他所画的花卉一样，它们象征着生命的脆弱和短暂，而以画笔记录了繁花最美好的样貌，就似延续易逝的时间。
