“RE: Achne” 香港韓國文化中心

Textile products can be more than just clothing and household items; they can also be works of art that enhance the space. Recently, the Hong Kong Korean Cultural Center held an exhibition called “RE: Achne,” which was the second open call event organized by the cultural institute this year. The exhibition showcased textile artworks by Fiber4Now, a group composed of four Korean textile artists: KANG Hwayoung, LEE Siwon, OH Seungah, and SONG Eunsil. With their skilled hands, they challenge the possibilities of weaving and create unique textile sculptures and hangings.

The exhibition theme is “Achne,” derived from the ancient words “Art” and “Techne,” which respectively refer to art and technology, symbolizing the fusion of modern technology and art. The four participating artists explore diverse textile art through various methods such as incorporating modern technology and materials into traditional craft techniques.

In addition, the original curiosity of handicrafts and pure art intertwines with modern technology in a sensory way, forming a fluid form of artwork. Visitors can appreciate concept textile artworks that go beyond universality and are expressed in different ways.

In addition to being able to personally appreciate these works on site, the audience can also simulate walking into the exhibition space through online forms. I believe everyone has no reason not to watch it!
