I believe Hong Kong audiences should be familiar with the works of British artist Jon Burgerman, as he recently held a solo exhibition at Woaw Gallery in Hong Kong. He creates colorful and quirky creatures in a graffiti style, which has gained him a lot of fans with its carefree and humorous visual imagery.
Recently, Harbour City has collaborated with WOAW Gallery once again to invite Jon Burgerman to bring his solo exhibition “Friendly Neighbours”. Drawing inspiration from his favorite childhood show, “Sesame Street”, the artist incorporates his signature googly eyes and humorous style to transform classic characters and create over 40 whimsical artworks in the “Sesame Street” series.
You may find Burgerman’s playful works on social media platforms, art exhibitions, and even on phone cases. Burgerman has specially traveled all the way from New York to attend the opening ceremony, reuniting with art enthusiasts in Hong Kong after three years, and embarking on an artistic Christmas journey together.
Jon Burgerman said, “I am honored to be able to collaborate with my favorite childhood show Sesame Street and bring them into my art world. Even when I was in kindergarten, I was deeply influenced by Sesame Street and its creator Jim Henson. The characters, songs, and animations of Sesame Street are engraved in my heart, teaching me that sharing kindness and happiness is the most beneficial.”
In addition, Jon Burgerman has specially designed a series of adorable and exquisite products, including four Sesame Street character keychains and plush toys. They are definitely a great choice for gifts, and 20% of the exhibition’s proceeds will be donated to the Hong Kong Leukemia Foundation. Everyone is encouraged to show their support for this fun and meaningful exhibition.
