Creating a “miniature world” in the library! Photographer plays with exquisite miniature models in the world of books.

When it comes to miniature model masters, we may first think of Japan’s Tatsuya Tanaka. For those of you who enjoy this kind of mini art creation, pay attention to the local photography team B+2B’s photography works themed around exquisite small objects. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Hong Kong Public Library, the “Library Rediscovered” photography exhibition focusing on reading and creation will soon be held at the South Factory. Photographers have been capturing miniature corners of the library, or incorporating small dolls and various everyday objects inspired by the librarian’s book selection, creating miniature scene photography works. Audiences can see our familiar libraries from the perspective of the photographers.

The photography exhibition is divided into two main themes: “Library Rediscovery / Tiny Corners” and “Library Rediscovery / Librarian’s Book Selections in Daily Life.” In “Library Rediscovery / Tiny Corners,” photographers visited the Tseung Kwan O Public Library, Yau Ma Tei Public Library, and Sau Mau Ping Public Library, integrating dolls and various everyday objects into the library’s shelves, window decorations, walls, and other tiny corners to create various adorable scenes.

“The Library Rediscovered / Curator’s Book Selection Micro Daily Life” is inspired by the curator’s reflections after reading and selecting books, creating down-to-earth miniature lifestyle photography to deepen the understanding of the book’s artistic conception. The exhibition will also display three-dimensional miniature scenes for visitors to take photos with, and provide the opportunity to browse through related books on site to savor the content of the chapters. During the exhibition, short films will be shown to give a behind-the-scenes look at the production of the miniature scenes.

Hong Kong-style milk tea and pineapple bun are everyday favorites for Hong Kong people, but they are eye-opening discoveries for tourists. In the artwork “Swimming in Smooth Milk Tea,” the photographer turns milk tea into a vast ocean, allowing the figurines to swim happily in the tea-colored sea, embodying the joy of savoring a refreshing cup of authentic and aromatic Hong Kong-style milk tea.

The photographer’s favorite works are “Can we stop littering?” and “Either you come or you explode!” The former presents his reflection after reading “The Garbage We Create,” showing a child standing on a floating barrel, facing the loneliness and helplessness of the ocean filled with plastic garbage around him, responding to the curator’s sharing that “everyone’s efforts can bring change to our beloved ocean!”

《興趣不分老幼》

Some people love to record their thoughts and feelings in writing after reading, but the photography team prefers to create miniature images to deepen their reflections. You may want to visit the exhibition and explore familiar library corners from a different creative perspective!
