South American artist Paloma Castillo presents her first exhibition “Embroidering Daily Life”, where every stitch of silk thread embroiders Chile’s unique culture.

Recently, the Karen Weber Gallery brought the first solo exhibition “Embroidering Daily Life” by Chilean textile artist Paloma Castillo, featuring Castillo’s iconic embroidery that captures her blend of personal experiences, critical social commentary, and popular culture in her embroidery masterpieces! Paloma Castillo is a textile artist and graphic designer, influenced by her mother, who works in the design industry, and her grandmother, who loves embroidery. She also demonstrates exceptional textile and hand embroidery skills. With a designer’s eye, she focuses on imagery and visual aesthetics, blending contemporary art with embroidery.

Her artistic creations span themes of politics, technology, mythology, and modernity, resulting in works that can be understood as the artist’s “mind map.” The artist combines her observations of daily life in Chile, political insights, and personal experiences, adding a mythological flair and sense of humor, creating avant-garde and captivating embroidery. The pieces include superheroes, insects, flowers, religious figures, as well as everyday objects like power lines and popular Chilean piggy banks, allowing viewers to recognize local trends.
