This year, local illustrator Pei Zhong has painted a mural of “Spirited Away” for an international brand, attracting much attention with his delicate artwork that has led many to visit and take photos with the piece. If you can’t get enough of this artist’s work, keep an eye out for his recent solo exhibition “Animal World • MOTION & ANIMALS” in collaboration with the art platform “ARTW”. The exhibition will showcase 17 of Pei Zhong’s iconic watercolor paintings, guiding viewers into his fantastical and colorful world.
Pi Zhongzi started his full-time creative career 8 years ago and has been continuously sharing his artwork on social media. He has always chosen soft and versatile watercolors as his medium, painting various clever and cute animals and characters. Through keen observations of life and objects, the artist uses watercolors to create magnificent effects like “starlight” and “splashes of color,” crafting all kinds of fantastical landscapes that leave a lasting impression.
This personal exhibition brings together the artist’s work from the past many years, showcasing 17 pieces related to animals. It can be said to span the entire artistic journey of the artist. From the early works filled with innocence and sweetness, to the recent mature works focusing on expressing emotions and life insights, even showing a self-deprecating side, the pieces all demonstrate the artist’s growth and transformation.
One of the noteworthy works is “Frog with Self-Portrait”. Pi Zhongyuan wanted to overcome his fear of frogs, so he juxtaposed himself with this animal in the work, hoping to encourage everyone to face their inner fears bravely. It can be seen that he is determined to break through himself.
In addition to the exhibition, the artist will appear on site at 4:00 PM on September 17th to participate in the “Pi Zhong x You · Live Creation” event, followed by an artist dialogue, discussing creative thoughts with the audience. Fans, don’t miss it!
