Dreamy special exhibition at Pingtung Ocean View Art Gallery! Transforming Oscar Oiwa’s black and white paintings into a 360-degree immersive viewing experience.

In the summer of 2022, before the mountain wind arrives, the “Sea Art Museum” and “Stay · Wind Pavilion” invited Japanese-Brazilian artist Oscar Oiwa to exhibit an extremely dreamy immersive exhibition “Dreaming – Sensory Floating Special Exhibition”, allowing everyone to fully immerse themselves in the world of paintings!

《The Dreams of a Sleeping World  眠夢》

Oscar is a painter and a contemporary artist. His creative forms are diverse, and his works present a very familiar yet completely unexpected world. In this exhibition, Oscar brings two large 360-degree immersive paintings, “Dreaming” and “Darkness and Light.” The artist wants to invite everyone to enter the world of dreams, to open their arms and embrace the world in their dreams.

In addition, he also created the “Isolation Series” in response to the pandemic, allowing us to see and feel the significant impact of the pandemic on people living in another corner of the world from Oscar’s perspective. Travel has always been an important part of Oscar Oiwa’s life, until the global spread of the pandemic in 2019, the border closures not only confined him to his home in New York but also prevented him from going to his studio in Queens as usual. Therefore, starting from the early 2020s, the artist staying at home switched to digital means to create about 20 black and white monochrome paintings, which he published online under the theme of “Isolation Series.”

《The Great Depression 大蕭條》
《A Sick Country 病態國家》
《My Desk 我的辦公桌》

This series of works is presented in the form of a diary, whether it is a small garden on the windowsill, a desolate park landscape, canceled Osaka attractions, or hometown Sao Paulo, Brazil, all become his creative materials, and each work caption truthfully records the painter’s real feelings at the moment of creation.
