Through a circular mysterious window, a Hong Kong laundromat and an apartment seemingly located in the UK are able to connect and gaze at each other. In the imaginative scene created by Hong Kong artist Afa Annfa, the waiting in the laundromat and the longing and weariness in the foreign apartment evoke empathy. Under the pressures of urban housing prices and social change, the Hong Kong people’s yearning for hope and the desire to “return home” linger in the laundromat and the foreign land apartment. In this spatial installation, the artist also presents a series of surreal paintings, where the girl travels through different time and space through a mysterious passage, as if seeking new hope.

Hong Kong artist Du Huan’s bamboo sculpture is like some fantastical creatures, reminiscent of Hong Kong’s traditional large-scale deity sculpture techniques. The works use bamboo as a support for their massive bodies, with variously shaped hand-painted paper as their flesh, combining to create a universe of intriguing abstract collages. In the flow of air and light, these mysterious creatures reflect the flowing light and shadow, engaging in subtle interactions with the surrounding environment.

Special Exhibition: “Made in Hong Kong”

The exhibition brings together 65 works by 40 Hong Kong artists, spanning across painting, photography, sculpture, printmaking, and installations, exploring through visual, auditory, tactile, and other sensory experiences. These works include realistic, abstract, and fictional depictions of the city. When the city and everyday spaces intertwine with the artists’ lives, memories, dreams, writing, research, and experiments, they will form a diverse and energetic “Hong Kong creation”.
