Regardless of how similar the creative forms of each artist may be, the ideas they permeate are unique.

Living in the fast-paced rhythm of Hong Kong, competing with time every day, however, under the raging epidemic, it is giving us a space to pause and reexamine life, appreciating the cityscape that we usually overlook in a hurry. Liu Yanyang wanders through the urban streetscape, using oil painting as a creative medium, internalizing it into a serene and spiritual landscape. In recent years, he has studied Buddhism, and the process of depiction is like the practice of cultivation, eliminating distractions, focusing the mind on one state, and seeking a state of balance and tranquility.

Ka-Yi Lam is inspired by the efficiency and mechanization in life. Every day on her way to work, the fleeting scenes outside the car window blur in her memory. She reconstructs these passing moments into memories, capturing the traces of the city through quick sketches. Nurtured by her mother’s sewing craftsmanship, her exhibited works are divided into colorful woven pieces and sketches, using mechanical strokes to depict the intricate emotions of Hong Kong.

The two artists combine objective and subjective experiences, capturing glimpses of the city and transforming them into intriguing expressions, reflecting their own understanding of contemporary urban life. Let us follow the rhythm of the creators and wander through the unique artistic landscape of our city!
