If you were to represent Hong Kong with a single image, what kind of scenery would you choose? The “Hong Kong Photography Competition 2021” organized by National Geographic magazine recently announced all the award results. Although the entries must be limited to scenes within Hong Kong, this year, in addition to local Hong Kong photographers, there were also many participants from mainland China, Taiwan, Macau, Singapore, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Australia, Greece, Italy, the United Kingdom, and many other countries, collecting a total of over 7000 entries.

This competition is divided into six categories: city, ecology, scenery, people, mobile, and short film. The judging panel includes National Geographic documentary director Andrew Yao, Hong Kong photographer Anthony Lau, and the editor-in-chief of the Chinese edition of National Geographic magazine.

The award-winning works each have their own unique characteristics, with the urban category capturing the bustling streets of Hong Kong, reflecting the vibrant side of the city; the people category capturing frontline service personnel and street vendors persevering during the epidemic; and the ecology category delicately capturing the lives of animals such as seagulls, wild monkeys, and insects.

In the bustling streets, roads, temple streets, and other places, some buildings quietly undergo changes. The creator recorded the final scene before the demolition of the Yau Ma Tei car park, leaving behind memories of historical buildings, making people sigh that time can only remain unchanged in the image.
