The Lunar New Year is approaching, stepping into the Year of the Tiger, artists have all used tigers as their theme, bringing many uniquely styled tiger paintings, adding vitality to January! New Art Wave Gallery is currently holding the “Joyful Year of the Tiger: Happy New Year Painting Exhibition”, featuring over 30 New Year paintings from 15 artists from Hong Kong and Taiwan, allowing everyone to experience the festive atmosphere in advance.
The participating artists include well-known veteran artists, mature middle-aged artists, emerging young artists, and art students, including Chung Tai-fu, Ho Pak-lai, Hui Pui-chi, Tang Ning-zi, Pang Ching-kwan, Law Siu-ting, Wong Lai-keung, Yim Man-wai, Ho Hing-yee, Hui Yee-shuen, Lam King-ting, and so on.
The exhibition works are diverse, breaking through the traditional image of New Year paintings. Artists use a variety of media such as ink, printmaking, rock color painting, calligraphy, etc. Some depict tigers in different styles, some fierce, some cute. Others paint auspicious flowers, birds, and animals, fresh and elegant, hoping to bring new vitality and good omens to the Year of the Tiger.
In recent years, with the epidemic raging, the social atmosphere is low. Now, with the arrival of the Year of the Tiger, Zhong Dafu created this painting depicting the first sunrise of the new year, with the strong and majestic tiger waking up, symbolizing driving away the bad luck and misfortune before, and looking forward to a better tomorrow. The famous painter He Baili painted blooming flowers, symbolizing auspiciousness and also very suitable for the festive atmosphere of the Spring Festival!
