Visit a traditional ice house to see a “ground-level” photography exhibition! Two local photographers capture the “public housing luxury” of Wah Fu Estate!

Thinking that photographers only shoot in glamorous buildings? In fact, residential areas closer to the lives of citizens are also worth seeing. Recently, local photographers Kevin Cheng and Alan Chan jointly held a photography exhibition, with the theme being the famous public housing estate in Hong Kong – Wah Fu Estate. The exhibition was held at the Yuen Do Cafe in Wah Fu Estate, allowing everyone to enjoy tea snacks while admiring the photographers’ works full of local colors.

Wah Fu Estate was completed in the 1960s and has been around for 55 years. Due to its unique geographical location, some buildings offer views of the sea and the nearby luxury estate Bel-Air. Therefore, it is also known as the “people’s luxury estate.” Several years ago, the government announced plans to redevelop Wah Fu Estate, which will involve demolishing some buildings. Kevin and Alan used their cameras to capture the scenery and architectural features of the estate, preserving its beauty for everyone.

These works will be exhibited at the 53-year-old Silver City Ice House, which moved into the Wah Fu Estate shortly after its completion, accompanying residents as they grew up. In the weathered and old restaurant, the photos appear even more “down-to-earth” and intimate, full of nostalgic feelings.

This photography exhibition will last for a year, so why not take this opportunity to visit and enjoy the luxurious scenery of this housing estate!
