K11 Art Foundation collaborates with ArtReview to bring together 14 artists to reshape the post-pandemic world through creation!

During the post-pandemic period, communication among people has decreased sharply, like a huge wave covering us. However, a group of artists have been immersed in creating during this time, engaging in a “dialogue” with the outside world through art. K11 Art Foundation (KAF) collaborates with the international contemporary art magazine ArtReview for the first time to present the “Breaking Waves” exhibition, bringing together 14 artists from around the world to showcase how they break through and reshape the post-pandemic world through their creations!

The exhibition “Breaking Waves” highlights the “dialogue” presented in each work, emphasizing the exchange and mutual influence among artists. The exhibition works of the artists also demonstrate a state of moving between work and play, covering issues such as the relationship between humans and nature, migration and mobility, exploitation and cooperation, the potential of new technologies, and the collaboration and dialogue among artists breaking through temporal barriers. At the same time, it also shows how art provides us with a new or alternative perspective to observe the world and position ourselves within it.

The exhibiting artists include Larry Achiampong, Chim↑Pom, Ripon Chowdhury and Ho Tsz Yin, Adriano Costa, Eisa Jocson, Michael Joo, Jac Leirner, Yuko Mohri and David Horvitz, Laure Prouvost, Slime Engine, Wolfgang Tillmans, and Zheng Bo.

The exhibition brings together a diverse range of static and interactive works, inviting the audience to become “fellow travelers” on an artistic journey. Along the way, there are individual perspectives being expressed, as well as the operation of collective consciousness and shared visions. It gradually reveals how individuals become part of the public, and how art guides individuals to learn from others, which is the foundation needed for fair social dialogue, bridging generational and cultural connections for continuous exploration and innovation.

The exhibition explores the key roles of “discussion” and “dialogue” in contemporary art, highlighting the important role of observation, communication, and social interaction in contemporary practice. Furthermore, this exhibition also explores diverse ways of connecting the world through art exchange. The works in the exhibition span different time periods and regions, using traditional and innovative mediums to challenge the audience’s various sensory experiences, engaging the audience in an interactive “breaking waves” journey.

In addition to the exhibition, the K11 Art Foundation will launch a series of activities, including art creation activities and a series of online and offline guided tours. Don’t miss out!
