The Hong Kong Design Centre’s “Design for Happiness” exhibition kicks off! Creative designs reveal a unique “formula for happiness”!

“Happiness” is easy to talk about, but how can we actually obtain it? Hong Kong Design Centre recently launched a new themed design exhibition “Delightful Design,” curated by Mr. Lee Chi Wing, founder and design director of Milk Design. Through his years of designer experience and educator’s perspective, he explores and shares with the public how to find joy and happiness through design.

Happiness may not have a concrete definition, but it does have a direction to achieve. This exhibition features over 30 exhibits from outstanding designers from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Japan, South Korea, the UK, the US, and the Netherlands. The works will be divided into 4 areas based on sensory, spiritual, ideological, and social concerns, creating an exclusive “happiness formula” for designers to share from individual to community, bringing a sustainable sense of happiness to the audience.

After walking through the four main exhibition areas and seeing the exhibits, the public must have their own understanding of “happiness”. Coming to the last part of the exhibition, everyone has a chance to personally experience and share. The event invited the local paper art design unit STICKYLINE to create a large art installation “Mountain and Wild Waves” using their expertise in paper art creation and spatial utilization techniques. Audience members are welcome to fold flowers with the materials provided on site and add them to the installation, collectively creating a garden that belongs to everyone, allowing themselves to become one of the creators as well.

During the exhibition period, “Design Spectrum” will hold a series of public activities, including sharing sessions, workshops, and community experience days, enriching the public’s imagination of design and happiness. This includes a sharing session hosted by Good Young Hostel, a community experience day led by the residents of Peng Chau, “Touchable Self-Portrait” by Beyond Vision, and a street sign laboratory jointly guided by Milk Design and KENNIFSTUDIO, allowing everyone to layer happy emotions in communication.

This exhibition brings visual pleasure and allows the audience to interact with others in a joyful way at various public events. Why not visit the exhibition and see if you can discover a new “formula for happiness”!
