Newly built winery in the Czech suburbs seamlessly blends with the scenic hills!

The Gurdau Winery

“The Gurdau Winery,” located in the Czech Republic, was founded in 2012. It is situated on a green countryside and the vineyards overlook the village of Kurdějov. This village has historically been recognized as one of the main wine suppliers to the noble court, and the innovative Gurdau Winery also pays tribute to this region’s outstanding grape cultivation tradition.

This uniquely designed new winery, designed by Aleš Fiala Studio, is shaped into a gentle curve to blend seamlessly with the surrounding countryside. The building is situated in the center of a green space, allowing it to connect with the surrounding nature. The roof of this building is covered with expansive green vegetation, and the surrounding area is adorned with 150 varieties of shrubs that grow out of the “perforated” roof, creating an interesting form.

The design of the winery combines traditional and modern elements. The architecture is integrated into the ground, creating a graceful and comfortable atmosphere. Various materials such as concrete, glass, metal, oak, and acacia wood are used to support the organic shapes of the building, showcasing various details and craftsmanship. By combining large glass windows, spacious terraces, and sloping roofs, this space allows people to experience the natural environment and seasonal changes firsthand.

This wine house blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, creating a feeling of being embraced by the natural environment of the wine region. People can enjoy magnificent views from the terraces and green-roofed artificial hills, stretching from the horizon of Kürdöyf to the distant Parava and extending to the vast plains of Austria.
