As the “International Ambassador of Goodwill,” the iconic yellow smiley face Smiley has turned 50! To celebrate Smiley’s cultural impact over the past half century, The Smiley Company has launched a milestone collaboration series, inviting over 400 brands to create products featuring the iconic smiley face, spreading joy around the world! This collaboration includes artists and various fashion brands, and below we have selected some interesting joint projects for everyone to enjoy!
Graffiti artist André Saraiva art collaboration project
To celebrate the 50th anniversary milestone, as well as pay tribute to all the outstanding artists who have reimagined its iconic logo over the past half-century, the brand intentionally invited renowned graffiti artist André Saraiva to reinterpret the logo. Although born in Uppsala, Saraiva discovered his lifelong passion for Parisian graffiti during his upbringing. He is a pioneer of the early Parisian graffiti movement, and today, his iconic graffiti character “Mr. A” can be seen in various fashion and art scenes around the world.
Today, the optimistic and lively “Mr. A” under his pen meets the energetic Smiley, and the artist jokingly calls them two brothers! Saraiva designed Smiley posters in different languages for this project, and during these two months of fashion week, they are posted on the streets of major cities to continue spreading smiles and positive energy.
H&M collaborates with Smiley to launch a series of retro-inspired streetwear, including tie-dye hoodies, loose jeans, casual joggers, T-shirts, baseball shirts, and sports socks. Key pieces include velvet vests and down jackets in purple, light beige, and pure black. Accessories such as jewelry and bags perfectly capture the vibrant and playful 90s style. It’s worth noting that this collection is mostly made from more sustainable materials.
The smiling face and Moschino seem like a perfect match. The world of high fashion can sometimes seem a bit intimidating, but if the design includes cheerful smiley faces, doesn’t it feel both stylish and more approachable?
The eternal smiley face icon is stamped on the ubiquitous sunglasses of “Chanel”, with some styles even featuring Karl’s ubiquitous ponytail, giving the brand a playful image. This collection opts for eye-catching yellow, black, and white mixed tones, designing fashionable trench coats, vibrant pleated skirts, jeans, hoodies, and more. This series focuses on high-end sportswear, including unisex joggers, sweatshirts, T-shirts, and various accessories. Additionally, most styles are made from more sustainable materials with a smaller environmental impact, which is definitely worth a smile.
