Renowned fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy is not only a legendary figure in haute couture and the fashion industry, but also a symbol of elegance and French taste. Now, art enthusiasts around the world will have the opportunity to see these rare art and decorative treasures, all because Christie’s will be auctioning over 1,200 French and European artworks and furniture in Paris this June, including sculptures and paintings from classical to modern. Each piece in the collection has been carefully selected, reflecting his elegant taste.

These items are all housed in Givenchy’s two most iconic residences, the elegant Hôtel d’Orrouer in Paris, and the magnificent Chateau Jonchet in the Loire Valley, France. Many of these collections have never been exposed for decades, while more recent artworks were purchased by Givenchy in his later years.

As a legend in the fashion world, many well-known elegant women in the second half of the 20th century were dressed by Givenchy, including former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, elegant goddess Audrey Hepburn, and the Duchess of Windsor. Nurtured by a family culture, Givenchy cultivated exceptional creativity, as well as an appreciation for materials, colors, and decorations, which also made him passionate about the works and designs of artists and craftsmen, as can be seen in his fashion design, interior design, and art collection.

This auction is a tribute from later generations to this French tastemaker’s soul, showcasing his ubiquitous elegance through art. The selected auction items will be announced this spring and will tour to Hong Kong for everyone to look forward to!
