“Chubby” art master Botero presents a solo exhibition in Hong Kong, an immersive exhibition that recreates the artist’s real apartment!

Do you recognize those cute chubby figures in the artwork? These whimsical characters are the creations of the famous Colombian artist Fernando Botero. Recently, Ora-Ora will be presenting Botero’s solo exhibition “Botero’s Living Room” in the new art space at Tai Kwun, allowing Hong Kong audiences to delve into the master’s creative world and experience his “round beauty” portrait world!

The exhibition brings together Botero’s works from the past 40 years, but some of the exhibited pieces have always been part of Botero’s collection. The focus of the exhibition will be the artist’s 1977 painting “Sunflowers,” which shows Botero’s admiration for his idol, Van Gogh’s still life paintings. However, this is not a mere imitation to pay tribute, but a spiritual dialogue through Botero’s unique artistic style and Van Gogh’s floral works.

In addition, his painting “Woman in the Bathroom” from 2002 is also a highlight of the exhibition, showing Botero’s dedication to his work. The artwork’s theme is both shy and energetic, exuding passion for life while also carrying a hint of mischievous playfulness. This piece hangs in the artist’s New York apartment, and it is rare for it to be displayed in the current exhibition, allowing everyone to experience the charm of the painting. Additionally, a piece titled “Snake” was originally hung in his house in Bogota, but it is now rarely placed in public view, making this opportunity very rare.

This exhibition is not like the usual visual art exhibitions. The gallery will recreate Botero’s real face in his New York apartment! By displaying the art pieces that were once placed in his living room, studio, bedroom, etc. in an immersive and original setting, the audience will have the opportunity to step into Botero’s daily life. This presentation not only satisfies the curiosity of the audience but also allows people to deeply understand the relationship between the works and life. And more importantly, through this exhibition, we can have a more three-dimensional understanding of the art master in real life, as well as his artistic preferences.

This exhibition, regardless of its form or content, is unlike any previous exhibitions. The gallery even refers to it as “Botero’s living room,” making it one of the artist’s most important exhibitions in recent years. Don’t miss this opportunity!
