In the world of fashion, the relationship between designers and photographers has always been inseparable. The former brings unique design inspiration, while the latter captures fashion creativity with photographic aesthetics. International renowned Tim Walker is one of them. This British photography master will kick off his large-scale Asian tour exhibition “Tim Walker: Wonderful Things” at the Chimei Museum in Tainan at the end of July this year, allowing fashion enthusiasts to revisit his classic photographic works from the past 25 years all at once!
The works to be exhibited in Tainan this time are borrowed from the Chimei Museum to the V&A Museum in London, UK. In 2019, the V&A Museum invited Tim Walker to collaborate on the exhibition, and after the exhibition ended in 2020, the world tour exhibition will be held in Tainan, showcasing about 300 exhibits including photography works, videos, props, etc.
In a series of works, you can appreciate Tim Walker’s storytelling and artistic composition, as well as his fairy-tale-like fantasy style. This internationally acclaimed fashion magazine favorite photography master uses vivid and bold colors, along with exaggerated and gorgeous props and sets to complement fashion, making it a rich fashion art feast. It is worth mentioning that the surreal scenes presented in these photographs are actually created from real settings, without the use of computer editing effects, showcasing the master’s skill.
In addition to his important works over the past 25 years, Tim Walker also carefully visited multiple exhibition halls at the V&A Museum, even personally exploring parts such as the underground tunnels of the Victorian era, and drawing inspiration from the museum’s collection to bring new works such as “Pen and Ink” and “Radiance,” which are also highlights not to be missed in this exhibition.
The exhibition dates for “Tim Walker: Wonderful Things” in Taiwan are from July 31 to February 6 next year, hoping to be able to fly there to enjoy it!
